If you’ve never listened to a podcast before, or never heard of them, I’m going to share with you what you need to know to get started. And to bring you into 2019!
Podcasts are freakin’ amazing. It’s kinda like talk radio but there’s no commercials and you get to decide what to listen to.
In the mood to laugh?
Want to learn about health or nutrition?
Need to listen to a devotional or sermon on your drive to and from work?
Hello reader, meet podcasts.
I first started listening to podcasts about a year and a half ago when I changed jobs and my commute to work went from 15 minutes to 60 minutes. I desperately needed something to occupy me on the drive and make me feel like I wasn’t wasting 2 hours of my life, 5 days a week. Now my commute time has improved to 35 minutes of drive time, but that’s still the perfect amount of time to laugh, re-center, or learn.
I’ve included in my list a little bit of everything that I love to listen to, mainly health and nutrition but some personal development as well.
There are several different apps you can use to listen to podcasts: Apple Podcast, Spotify, and Stitcher (my favorite). Simply download the app and search by podcast title or by subject matter. You can either download the episode to save for later or listen right away.
1. The Chalene Show
The host of this podcast, Chalene Johnson, is going to make you feel like she’s speaking directly to you the minute you turn on an episode. Tune in every week for content related to nutrition, personal development, relationships, and systems to live your life by your own design

2. Fit Friends Happy Hour
Ok, I’m a little biased here. I went to Purdue University with one of the hosts of this podcast. Either way, Katie and Lauren dish out MUCH NEEDED real talk about favoring health over the number on the scale and navigating real life situations for young adults, such as prioritizing your workouts.

Episode 58: Finding Balance Through IE with Kacy Massie, RD

3. The Model Health Show
Ready to hear about what’s new in nutrition research? Pretty good chance you’ll hear about it from host, Shawn Stevenson. On his podcast, you’ll hear fabulous interviews that focus on nutrition, fitness, and mindset that will have you transform how you think about your health.

4. Your Move
I originally came across this podcast because I heard about Andy Stanley at church. While his podcast speaks real life truth straight from the Bible, he presents it in a way that even if you’re not a Christian, you’ll still get something out of it. His entire goal of the podcast is just to help listeners “make better decisions and live life with fewer regrets.” Now who doesn’t want that?
